Across decades of releases, collaborations and live performances, the Canadian vocalist and songwriter Luca Mele has consistently stitched ideas of determination, unity and personal transformation into his work, creating songs that reflect both real life experience and an ongoing desire to bring people together. Through fronting a band, pursuing ambitious solo projects and dedicating time to community service, Luca has built a career driven as much by purpose as by performance.
His musical journey first gained widespread attention as the vocalist for No Assembly Required, a band that made an impact in Canadian music history. Remaining unsigned throughout their rise, the group achieved the distinction of earning heavy rotation and most-requested music video status on Much Music/MTV Canada on three separate occasions. Their music also found an enduring home through UFC Fight Night broadcasts, reaching millions of viewers over the course of more than fifteen years and introducing the band’s sound to audiences well beyond traditional rock circles.
Alongside that success, Luca developed an equally ambitious solo career and since launching his own material in 2012, he’s released a succession of projects while touring internationally, including performances across Europe with Onyx. Throughout that period he’s collaborated with an impressive range of artists including Merkules, Onyx, Slaine, Bizzy Bone, Doe Boy, Enchanting and producer C-Lance, continually expanding both his creative reach and musical identity.
Luca Mele’s catalogue has never followed a predictable path however, it’s progressed through an elaborate fictional mythology between storytelling and artistic eexpression. Following the apparent demise of No Assembly Required in 2014, hinted at through the ending of the band’s final music video, Luca introduced Revenant in 2015, a title referencing someone who returns from the dead. From there, the story continued through albums including New Fam, 1 World 1 Love, The After Party and New Fam 2: Reanimated, presenting an imaginative science-fiction storyline involving artificial intelligence, quantum computing and the resurrection of artistic consciousness.

Now, Luca returns with his latest single titled “Fly Away,” a track which shifts attention away from elaborate conceptual storytelling and towards highly personal reflection, offering listeners one of his most emotionally compelling releases thus far. Thematically, “Fly Away” explores forgiveness, perseverance and the strength required to move beyond life’s setbacks. The song focuses on renewal, family and the possibility of finding hope after difficult experiences, building on ideas that have quietly connected Luca’s work throughout the years, promoting compassion, unity and the belief that positive change remains possible even during challenging times.
That sincerity is matched by an accomplished production team, with the single mixed and mastered by Trevor James Anderson, whose extensive credits include work with The Weeknd, NAV, 6lack, Andrea Bocelli and Arkells, while the production comes from GRIMM Music, also known as David Sporbeck. The collaboration also builds upon longstanding creative relationships, with Luca having previously worked with Anderson on releases featuring artists including Doe Boy, Bizzy Bone and Merkules, with whom he also completed three nationwide tours.
Flowing with delicate guitar notes and alluring vocalisations, the track jumps into a grooving alternative pop scene where the rattle of trap style beats underpins emotive vocal leads which float above with bright melodies carrying poignant lyricism. With “Fly Away,” Luca Mele delivers a release that strips away spectacle in favour of emotional honesty and while his wider catalogue continues to embrace ambitious concepts and imaginative storytelling, this latest chapter reminds listeners that his strongest creative thread has always been profoundly human.
