Sydney-based artist Cassy Judy has earned a reputation as one of the most distinctive and engaging voices on Australia’s queer performance circuit. Blending original songs, comedy, audience participation and theatrical flair, she’s developed a live show that feels like a shared celebration. From leading crowd singalongs and delivering witty observations to introducing the audience to one of her unforgettable stage props, Cassy comes at every performance with warmth and lighthearted humour.
A proud trans woman, Cassy has shaped her songwriting around real life experience, creating music that frames ideas of identity with honesty and plenty of laughter. She often approaches difficult subjects through humour, encouraging audiences to laugh with her while creating space for greater understanding and connection. The intricate balance between thoughtful storytelling and playful entertainment has become one of the pillars of her work, allowing her songs to strike a chord beyond the punchlines.
Cassy recently completed two sold out performances at the Sydney Comedy Festival, further confirming her status as a performer able to move between music and comedy. Along the way she’s also appeared at the Broken Heel Festival, performing there in both 2019 and 2022, before taking her music to the National Folk Festival in 2023 and again in 2024. Most recently, audiences experienced her energetic live show during Qtopia’s Mardi Gras season, where she performed alongside a full band.
Across three EPs, alongside the albums Body Parts and Soul Parts, Cassy has continued to explore different musical directions while remaining tethered to a style of storytelling that feels personal and entirely her own. Now, she’s preparing her next full-length project, Southerly Buster, a bush band and folk-inspired album set to land next year.

Her latest release, “I’ve Come So Far Symphonic,” lands as a reimagining of a song originally performed at the Broken Heel Festival, with the new version expanding its sound through sweeping production while preserving the highly personal story at its centre. Produced by Derek Turner at Quarterpipe Studios in Gymea Bay, with additional work completed at Komilkon Studios in Epping, the recording shifts the original arrangement towards a new setting. Warm orchestral textures combine with graceful vocal work to create a sound that feels at once cinematic and intimate, allowing the emotion behind the lyrics to play out with even more impact.
Brought in by bright brass tones and airy piano notes, Cassy’s elegant voice floats in with delicate melodies carrying storytelling lyricism that traces her own journey. Flowing with intricate pizzicato string plucks and tender vocal delivery, the song glides with lilting rhythmic sway and dreamy instrumentation to cast a charming and thoroughly moving musical experience. Reaching a mesmeric instrumental passage in the finale, the song presents a truly compelling display of Cassy’s songwriting talent and performance flair.
At the centre of the song is Cassy’s own journey of transition, with “I’ve Come So Far Symphonic” reflecting on everything that accompanies personal transformation from relationships left behind, attempts to make peace with the past, moments of uncertainty and, ultimately, the joy of becoming fully oneself. With “I’ve Come So Far Symphonic,” she delivers one of her most emotionally captivating releases thus far, once again making an impression within Australia’s modern music sphere while showing that the most powerful stories are often those told with both honesty and hope.
