German electronic artist, composer and producer Thomas Lemmer has always seen music as a way of bringing a little more beauty into the world. Across a decorated career he’s explored sonic atmosphere and emotion while developing a sound that sits between ambient music, chillout, modern classical composition and intricate electronic production. With more than 500 released tracks, internationally charting albums and a growing catalogue available in Dolby Atmos, Thomas has spent years forging an artistic language built around warm harmonies, cinematic soundscapes, melodic piano and detailed electronic textures.
Albums including Hope, Still, Zero Gravity, Pure and Ambitronic have connected his music with listeners around the world, while his track “Nocturnal Embrace” received the German Songwriting Award last year. Alongside his work under his own name, he also explores lo-fi sounds through the moniker MonoCulture, further revealing an artist whose creative world continues to expand.
His origins, however, stretch back to classical music; having studied piano and church organ, Thomas brings a strong sense of melody and emotional composition into his electronic work, never allowing technology to overshadow feeling. That context also informs his new book, From Silence to Sound: Unlocking Creativity in Music Production, in which he shares his approach to transforming early ideas and emotions into finished pieces of music.
Now, Thomas opens another exciting chapter with Dreamscapes II, his latest album released via the Sine Music imprint. Returning to the sonic sphere mapped out by his celebrated Dreamscapes record, the new project develops the earlier album’s atmospheric stylings into something more reflective, more immersive and more emotionally impactful. Landing as a complete artistic statement, Dreamscapes II moves through delicate piano melodies, warm electronic details, wide ambient textures and cinematic soundscapes across fourteen tracks.

Themes of light, memory, silence and stillness appear throughout record, while the music is intrinsically linked to the visual side of the release. Thomas created the album artwork himself using original Polaroid photographs of skies, clouds, abstract light and self-portraits. Experimenting with double exposures and carefully selected filters, he developed a dreamlike analogue aesthetic with the photographs then scanned in high resolution and transformed into artwork for streaming platforms, CD and vinyl, allowing the same sense of atmosphere to move between sound and image.
Set up by “The Light That Carried Us Through,” the swell of hazy instrumental layers forms a drifting soundscape, casting a soporific and wholly absorbing listening experience to open the album. “The Stillness of What Once Was” expands the cinematic sound with softly plucks instrumental flickers which punctuate the dreamy musical fabric with touches of bright sonic colour, stitching delicate melodic threads into the immersive fabric of the song.
“Weightless in a Sea of Light” forms with gentle pulses and the bubble of airy notes, taking listeners on a transportive voyage of alluring musical bliss via a sound that’s mesmeric and utterly spellbinding. Songs like “Among the Stars We Fade,” woozy synth leads float above a warm wash of textures, developing with electronic timbres and hushed percussive elements. Other highlights on the album include tracks like “The Silence That Holds Us” with its playful instrumental flutters and gliding bass tones while “A Stillness That Echoes” pairs mellow piano notes and stripped back arrangement to frame Thomas’ composition in an intricate setting.
“In the Fade of What Was” crafts a hypnotic soundscape through shimmering instrumental textures and delicate melodic elements to deliver a spectacular moment of ambient music. Closing the album with “Notes Left in the Quiet – A Conversation With Silence,” a lullaby-esque scene of key tones forms to present a charming finale to his incredible new full-length record.
Dreamscapes II is also available in Dolby Atmos, developed in close collaboration with immersive audio engineer Eric Horstmann, with the spatial mix designed to enhance the depth and movement of the music while remaining faithful to the emotional tone of the original compositions. Throughout the release, sound, image and atmosphere are treated as parts of the same whole, each helping to shape a world built around reflection and emotional presence, resulting in a work that allows space to listen, to remember, to imagine and for a little while, simply drift away.
