Born in Calcutta and now based in Madrid, weyvir has spent much of his life following music wherever it leads. A singer-songwriter, guitarist, bassist, producer and engineer, his relationship with sound began at eight years old when his grandmother bought him his first guitar. Starting out in school bands eventually became something more essential, carrying him through the DIY circuit around Syracuse University and into a life shaped by songwriting, live performance and experimentation.
In Syracuse, music became both a creative outlet and a lifeline, with weyvir releasing tracks with different projects, playing local gigs and learning how to build songs from the ground up, discovering the relationship between performance and production along the way. Today, Madrid provides the backdrop for the next stage of that journey, with weyvir moving between languages and cities while balancing his solo work with fronting rock band Hard Fuse on lead vocals and bass.
His music lands in an intriguing space between alternative rock and pop, where emotionally compelling songwriting takes cues from unexpected places. Across his solo output and collaborations, weyvir has clocked tens of thousands of spins, while his collaborations have passed one million. He’s also played alongside artists including Rebecca Black and performed with acts such as Picture Us Tiny, steadily building a presence through both recordings and live performances.

Now comes “Streets of Love, Pt. 1,” a brand new single that’s taken almost eight years to reach its next chapter. The single follows “just gotta let u know,” an earlier single that brought together bossa nova, grunge, pop punk and UK garage. Across both songs, weyvir shows a knack for placing contrasting sounds inside intensely personal stories. Blending indie rock, alternative pop, power pop and surf rock, the track captures the frustration of holding onto someone when every rational part of you suggests that it is time to let go.
The song began while weyvir was still in high school, with the chorus arriving first; inspired by heartbreak and feelings that could never quite be spoken aloud, that initial idea became the spark for a story that’s travelled with him from his teenage years into his life in Madrid. “I haven’t ever been able to give up on this song since I wrote it, and I’m finally giving it the ending it deserves,” he shares. “Streets of Love, Pt. 1” questions the idea that love is predetermined, focusing instead on the choices, missed opportunities and unresolved emotions that can pull people together.
Opened by the bright flutter of breezy guitar tones, weyvir’s smooth vocals enter to spin buoyant melodic leads carrying storytelling lyrics above the bouncy indie rock arrangement. The chorus was initially inspired by Band of Horses’ “The Funeral,” while the beat takes cues from The Wonders’ “That Thing You Do.” The Beach Boys, Supergrass and Arctic Monkeys also helped shape its melodic and rhythmic character. Brimming with charming vocal performance, engaging songwriting and alluring backing vocal layers driven by a grooving rhythmic sway, “Streets of Love, Pt. 1” sees weyvir serve up a superb musical moment that’s truly impossible not to love.
