London-based artist Antoin Gibson views music as a way of confronting the questions and experiences that shape existence itself. Working across dark pop, conscious rap and cinematic sound design, Antoin creates a world where thoughtful songwriting and emotion collide, turning personal intensity into theatrical, genre-breaking compositions. Their output avoids settling within a single musical identity, moving between confrontational lyricism, gothic atmospheres and moments of reflection, with each release offering another window into an artist intent on exploring the edges of sound and storytelling.
As the founder of Circum Sonus, Latin for ‘surrounding sound,’ Antoin approaches music as both ritual and rebellion. Their vocals shift between seduction and confrontation, while their writing moves from satirical diss tracks to darker, more emotionally charged ballads. Tension between thought and feeling ripples throughout their work, creating music that draws from alternative pop, industrial electronics and hip hop to build a truly distinctive creative language in which drama and sincerity coalesce into an intoxicating sonic cocktail.
Antoin first introduced this vision in April last year with the debut single âSight of First Loveâ and since then, they’ve released multiple singles and EPs, gradually building an audience across the UK and beyond. Now, their latest project marks an exciting step forward with The Rise and Fall of Eternity, a debut EP that expands their musical ambitions into an interconnected conceptual outing exploring identity, mortality, humanity’s self-destruction and the unknowable nature of consciousness.
The release revolves around a question that’s occupied human imagination for centuries, what if the end of life doesn’t necessarily mean the end of existence? By not attempting to resolve that uncertainty, Antoin uses it as the platform for a theatrical journey through contrasting possibilities of eternity. The EP doesn’t merely present a collection of songs concerned with death but an invitation to examine the assumptions surrounding existence and considers whether eternity represents something to desire or something to fear.

Across five interconnected tracks, the EP moves through contemplative hip hop, dark alternative pop, industrial electronics and a haunting folk-inspired finale. Each composition contributes another perspective to the overarching story, allowing the music to develop alongside its philosophical concerns. The opening track, âIntroduction to the Unexplained,â maps out the concept through powerful vocals rolling over punching beats, spinning profound lyricism to deliver a gripping alternative hip hop jam packed full of enthralling rhythm and angsty attitude.
âPandora’s Paradoxâ introduces the themes of uncertainty and consequence, wrapped up in an engrossing soundscape where the swell of buzzing synths and haunting vocals combine to craft a dark pop anthem brimming with consuming atmosphere and eerie melodic songwriting. âDystopian Empressâ expands the release into a theatrical examination of humanity’s destructive tendencies. The shift between these perspectives gives the project a sense of progression, moving from personal reflection towards wider questions about the direction of human existence captured in a wholly absorbing scene of thumping beats, stabbing synths and belted, impassioned vocal performance.
On âMirrors Behind the Smoke,â darker electronic textures and an atmosphere of mounting tension bring attention to the uncomfortable realities concealed beneath appearances, further complicating the relationship between what is visible and what remains hidden. Starting with hushed vocals and orchestral elements slip into a grooving sound of snapping percussion and enticing vocal leads, resulting in an exhilarating alternative pop jam that’s enveloping, memorable and thematically powerful from start to finish.
The closing track, âFortune Favours the Timeless,â offers a stark change in musical landscape, with its folk-inspired character providing a contrast to the industrial and electronic textures that precede it, creating space to consider death, consciousness and eternity from another angle. Crucially, Antoin avoids imposing a definitive interpretation, allowing the story to accommodate competing possibilities and encouraging listeners to find their own meaning within the material.
The project’s conceptual ambitions also extend beyond streaming; an accompanying photographic storybook adds another dimension to its context, while the vinyl edition includes an exclusive sixth track, âShroud of the Obsidian Veil,â which transforms the possibilities presented by the story. These additional elements reinforce Antoin Gibson’s interest in treating music as part of a wider creative experience, where sound, imagery and story can work together to expand the ideas at its centre.
