Based in Cologne, one of Germany’s leading cultural centres, independent electronic producer and songwriter RCN is developing a sound that brings together the immersive qualities of deep house with atmospheric undertones and sharper electronic textures. With a growing discography that includes last year’s debut record Velvet Void, Gölgeler and the conceptual double-album series Moonside, his workrevolves around the idea of music as an invitation to step outside the everyday and drift into somewhere unfamiliar.
Not limiting himself only to the functional rhythms of club music, RCN explores the space between movement and stillness, creating productions that offer both a physical impact and an opportunity to switch off. Working closely with long-time music partner and co-producer Airdem, RCN has been shaping an artistic output based on auditory storytelling and cinematic worldbuilding. The partnership provides a platform for a project that looks beyond individual tracks, treating sound as a way to forge atmosphere, evoke emotion and create distinctive listening environments.
Deep house remains at the heart of the sound but the addition of atmospheric layers and edgier electronic details gives the music a wider sense of scale, allowing its club-focused elements to collide with more reflective moments. Following a significant year, RCN now returns with El Abismo (The Remixes), a four-track EP that revisits his original single of the same name, released in May.
As well as extending the life of the earlier release, the project reframes its central idea through a collection of hypnotic reinterpretations. It’s an exploration of the atmosphere and emotional sphere mapped out by the original, inviting listeners to experience the material from a set of new perspectives and angles.

The EP opens with “El Abismo (Relax Remix),” setting the tone for the journey ahead, with its place at the beginning establishing the project’s emphasis on atmosphere, offering an introduction to the immersive soundscapes that define the release. Across the collection, warm synthes and deep basslines provide the musical setting, while smooth vocals in both Spanish and Portuguese bring another dimension to the arrangements. These elements create an intricate balance between rhythmic momentum and a more relaxed, downtempo vibes, allowing the tracks to land in a space between club-driven energy and deeper, more contemplative listening.
The concept behind “El Abismo” is based in the possibility of finding comfort and beauty in places that might initially seem uncertain. As he explains, “It’s about finding a unique, comforting beauty in the unknown and in the depths.” That idea offers a useful lens through which to understand the EP’s hypnotic character and by not presenting the unknown as something to resist, the project approaches it as a space worth exploring, where new sensations can become unexpectedly inviting.
This interest in atmosphere connects naturally with RCN’s wider catalogue; from his initial full-length records to the conceptual ambition of Moonside, his releases reflect an ongoing mission of building a recognisable musical world. The collaboration with Airdem remains an important part of that process, with the pair creating the project together from their home studio in Cologne. Their shared work allows the music to develop through a combination of electronic production, carefully shaped textures and an emphasis on the emotional experience of listening.
With El Abismo (The Remixes), RCN continues to explore the possibilities of underground house music without boxing himself in to a single setting or mood. The four-track release brings together deep rhythms, stacked synth work and multilingual vocals in a sound that can serve both the dancefloor and moments of quiet immersion. As his discography continues to grow, RCN is making an impression with electronic music that values atmosphere as much as movement, asking listeners to follow its rhythms into the unknown.
