Hailing from York in the UK, Rosso Tierney is a solo artist whose music brings together melodic rock, vocal ballads and the theatrical edge of modern glam art rock. A multi-instrumentalist working across piano, guitar, bass and vocals, Rosso draws on an wide array of influences, from David Bowie and The Struts to Palaye Royale, Yungblud, Spacehog and The Smashing Pumpkins. Within the guitar-driven arrangements and expressive vocals, however, simmers a more personal creative journey, informed by experiences of struggle, spiritual awakening and the search for connection.
Music has been part of Rosso’s life from an early age, growing up among generations of singers and musicians who helped spark his journey as a performer. His path soon took a rebellious turn, leading him into several punk bands, DIY album releases and tours across the UK and Europe. That experience gave him a setting in independent music before another chapter began with Sema 4, the late-70s punk band signed to Detour Records. As the group’s singer and bass player, Rosso stepped into the role following the death of its original frontman.
After taking a few years away from his personal project, Rosso has returned with music influenced by the experiences that have shaped his life. His songwriting addresses subjects including men’s mental health, neurodiversity, heartbreak and recovery, alongside the role of spirituality and meditation in finding a way forward. A profound spiritual awakening helped him transform personal difficulties into expressive work, giving his songs a sense of purpose beyond the act of performance itself. His ambition is to offer listeners the reassurance that they are not alone in their struggles, turning contemplation into something that can provide hope and strength.
Today, he’s developing a sound that reflects both his musical origins and a more genuine understanding of himself and that intention runs through his growing catalogue of singles, beginning with “Set You Free” last year. A mutual friend, Sam Bettley, bassist with Asking Alexandria, recommended producer Sam Graves after hearing Rosso’s demo. Sam, who co-produced Asking Alexandria’s The Black, became a collaborator on the project, with Rosso continuing to work with him on a planned sequence of more than ten tracks.

Now, following a run of well-received releases, his latest single titled “Feel” brings that personal context into a high-energy alternative rock setting. Initially penned in 2024, the track draws on the guitar-driven intensity and 90s influence associated with The Smashing Pumpkins, using its forceful sound to explore a quieter emotional sphere. Thematically, the song revolves around the question of what happens when two people care about each other but experience their relationship differently. Good intentions and genuine affection may be present but the connection itself can remain elusive, with the song examining the uncomfortable space between loving someone and feeling truly understood by them.
Brought in by the crunch of guitar rhythms as Rosso’s commanding voice rings out above building percussion, the track jumps with punching drums and twanging guitar passages as the arrangement surges into a gripping alternative rock chorus. Shaking with enthralling energy, infectious hooks and packed full of powerful motion, the track rolls with slick lead guitar flickers and belted vocal performance, resulting in a thrilling listening experience from start to finish. Lively drums, overlapping vocal elements and stacks of gritty guitars all collide on this raucous rock anthem that puts Rosso’s songwriting flair and performance panache on full display.
Produced by Sam Graves and mixed and mastered by Joe Graves, “Feel” also arrives with a cinematic music video directed by Rosso himself and filmed by Steve Pickett and Chris West. Shot on a former Second World War airfield in Yorkshire, the film contrasts solitary imagery with the physical energy of a full-band performance. Rosso drives a vintage 1970s Oldsmobile Delta 88 in one sequence, while another places his guitar and Marshall stack directly on the vast runway. Warm yellows and oranges lend the visuals a vintage California-inspired, road-movie aesthetic, with the location chosen for its scale and atmosphere.
Across his solo work and punk background, Rosso Tierney continues to bring personal experience into music that moves between pure emotion and rock’s more expansive energy. “Feel” captures that balance through powerful sonic momentum, while the songwriting asks whether love alone can bridge the distance between two people. As he continues to go from strength to strength as a solo artist, we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next on his exciting musical adventure.
