Spanish artist Edu Campoy has spent years developing V.E.N!, an independent musical project that brings together melodic alternative rock, indie stylings and an expansive combination of sound and imagery. Revolving around the concept of Virtual Emotions Network, the project explores the relationship between private feelings and the wider world, allowing moments of intimacy to sit alongside wider reflections on modern life.
Its musical identity is defined by expressive guitars, atmospheric textures, layered vocals and strong melodies, creating a sound that moves between the appeal of power pop and the more exploratory qualities of progressive rock. Extending beyond music alone, pop art collages, cut-outs and carefully assembled graphic compositions form an essential part of the V.E.N! world, with each song conceived as a complete audiovisual experience.
The artwork doesn’t simply accompany the music; it offers another way of communicating its emotional context and this connection between sound and image reflects the project’s wider interest in contrast, bringing together the appeal of a memorable chorus with the ambiguity and reflection that can arise through visual art. Developed independently over an extended period, V.E.N! has become a space for Edu to explore these ideas through a continuing series of EP releases.
The latest instalment, Waking Up In The Night, carries that creative vision into a six-track release shaped by alternative rock, indie rock and power pop. Built around direct melodies and an underlying contemplative quality, the EP explores the possibility of connection, both with the people around us and within ourselves.

Its emotional centre forms with opening track âConnection,â a song that balances energetic guitar work and a strong chorus with an atmospheric tone. The combination captures much of what defines V.E.N!, presenting music that can make an immediate impression while leaving room for more personal interpretations to develop. Landing as a melodic power pop outing driven by energetic guitars, within its melodic momentum, the song moves through feelings of loneliness and guilt, alongside the experience of losing one’s sense of direction or belonging.
By not sitting within those darker emotions, however, it gradually opens towards a more hopeful perspective, where silence, often associated with isolation, becomes a space in which meaningful connections can still form, with the self, with nature and with another person. That shift gives the track a thought-provoking dimension that sits alongside its power pop energy, resulting in a meeting point between contrasting impulses, where the punch of alternative rock lands with a quieter search for understanding.
The release then moves through âBreak The Compass,â âThe Scared Animal,â âCrossing The Last Valleyâ and âEvolutionâ, eventually arriving at closing track, âThe Home Of The New Man.â Together, the six tracks forge a sequence that places the focus song within a collection of ideas, continuing V.E.N!’s ongoing exploration of emotion, personal reflection and the realities of modern society.
Across the project, Edu’s independent creative expression allows music and visual composition to develop as interconnected forms of art. With Waking Up In The Night, V.E.N! continues to explore the space between reflection and outward connection, with its songs acknowledging loneliness, uncertainty and the challenges of facing the world, but they also leave room for renewal. Through the V.E.N! project, melody becomes a way of distilling difficult emotions while keeping sight of possibility, while the visual identity extends that search into another dimension.
Commenting on the release, Edu shares, “Connection is a melodic powerpop song with energetic guitars, a strong chorus and an emotional, atmospheric side. It combines the immediacy of powerpop with a more spiritual and introspective dimension, something that is central to V.E.N!’s music.”
