Formed in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, 100 Watt Shine is a band born around a love for blues and country-based rock music with a grittier edge. Comprised of five musicians, the band is made up by lead vocalist and guitarist Craig Olson, Brian Detmers and Clint Kennedy on guitar and vocals, Scott Walters on bass and vocals and drummer Miles Hudson.
Together they make a sound that’s characterised by delta blues with a little borrowed blues that came back to America having been steeped in British rock and roll sensibilities, all rounded off by a touch of Memphis twang and Bakersfield swagger. Dragged through Southern California and Midwest blue collar style rock and you’ll end up with a sound that only 100 Watt Shine can deliver.
Influenced by classic rock acts such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd, they’ve dropped three singles over the last year. Most recently, on the new single “The Devil You Don’t Know” they offer the very best of their catchy blues rock sound full of attitude and rhythm. Recorded and produced at Warehouse Recording Studios in Sioux Falls, their latest track also features a special guest appearance on guitar by Peter Stroud of Sheryl Crow.
