Songwriter Robert Kuhn has lived all over the world and has had several near death experiences. Despite close brushes with death, he continues creating whatever music feels good and with his Texan band GALVEZTON he delivers exceptionally original psychedelic indie rock n roll.
Born in a Houston hospital more dead that alive in 1978, he was revitalised with the help of loving parents and grew up into a poet and musician who has spent most of his life travelling the world under various circumstances. A true polymath, not only is he an all-round musical talent he’s also studied literature and mathematics as well as speaking several languages.
His debut album, 2014’s Everybody Knows, was instantly loved and successful enough for him to quit his job at a Houston shirt factory and dedicate his time and energy to writing and playing music. After touring all over the USA and Mexico for years, it abruptly ended at the end of August 2019 when Robert was nearly filled in a van wreck and left hospitalised. Returning to Galveston six weeks later and hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, he was just happy to be alive at all.
Now he’s in the process of releasing his third studio album, titled Persevere, a collection of nine original songs written and recorded in his home city of Galveston, Texas. Lifted from the forthcoming record comes the new single “Screen Savior”, a delightfully spacey track full of dreamy melodic vocal leads and piquant sonic textures. Laying down his gentle indie folk rock sound, on “Screen Savior”, the artist gives a taste of what’s to come on a captivating new single.
