Norwegian composer and multi-instrumentalist Filip Dahl started his music career as a lead guitarist in various rock bands back in the 70s before moving on to become a recognised engineer and music producer. He was one of the founding members and owners of the well renowned and highly acclaimed Trondheim based Brygga Studio over the next two decades.
At the turn of the millennium however, he took a self-imposed hiatus from the music world but now he’s made his return and draws on his vast experience as a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. So far, he’s released three solo albums entirely composed, performed, recorded and produced by himself.
Across the albums, Dark Angels and White Demons in 2016, A Fire Through the Night in 2018 and 2020’s Translucent Dreams of an Opaque Mind he delivered the very best of his melodic prog and symphonic rock sound, influenced by bands such as Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Jansas, Marillion and Dream Theatre. At the core of his compositions is his blistering virtuoso guitar work, not only demonstrating his ability as a musician but as a composer too.
Now he brings us one of his recent works with the single and music video for “Cry of a Broken Heart”. Released ahead of new music from Filip Dahl coming later this year, with the new song he offers his epic cinematic sound with his stunning lead guitar work at the forefront.
