Coming from St. Petersburg, Tamas Szigyarto follows in the steps of a long line of exquisite Russian classical composers with his modern take on instrumental music. Since the age of just ten years old he’s been training on the piano before switching to drums seven years later.
After cutting his teeth playing in a variety of rock bands for a decade as a drummer, he returned to the piano as his first passion in music and picked up his continued his musical journey with his most cherished instrument. Armed with the experience of years of live performance with other musicians, he drew on his inspirations of 20th Century French composers such as Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Francis Poulenc as well as the great American music of Aaron Copland, Ned Rorem, Ingram Marshall, John Adams, Philip Glass and new generation of composers like Timo Andres, Nico Muhly and Christopher Cerrone when he began to craft his own piano-based work.
The artist spent the next five years writing his refined compositions, releasing three works between 2020 and 2021 with “Blue Hour” in collaboration with Elena Oleynik, “Memory Waves” and “Membrany”. Now he brings us his latest effort with the epic collection of pieces titled “Fragments”.
A set of thirteen explorations of piano music, he reflects on the various aspects of contemplation; poetic, emotional, meditative, melancholic and restrained. A stunning and ethereal listening experience, on Fragments, Tamas Szigyarto crafts a delicate sonic dream across the whole release demonstrating both his performance dexterity as well as his ability of writing captivating pieces of music that draw you in and leave you wanting more.
