Growing up in the rainy landscape of the Pacific-Northwest, artist AMAVA makes her own brand of vibrant alternative pop. With a background in indie-folk music, she still holds the metaphor-heavy writing styles at the core of her sound, filtered through a lens of shiny modern pop and hyperpop themes and production.
Since her debut single, 2018’s “Blush”, she’s gone from strength to strength while developing her sound and building a fanbase eager for more. On her sound, she shares, “I want all of my music to sound like it takes place in a glittered, haunted house. A lot of what I write is based on how I’m feeling in that exact moment and I’ll always want to encapsulate a very specific and certain feeling.”
Taking inspiration from powerful pop female musicians such as Charli XCX, Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Lorde as well as the women around her in the local pop scene, AMAVA treads the lines between her indie-folk roots and the infectiously catchy pop world.
Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, AMAVA brings us her recent single with the track “Muse”, an electro-tinged pop anthem lifted by her soaring vocal delivery over a punchy beat and hazy electronic soundscape. Framed in the context of being someone else’s muse, her new single offers an empowering sound that tackles the perception that our self-worth is tied to the perceptions of other people.
With her instantly catchy modern pop hit, the artist offers a track that encourages us to reclaim our identities and capture of new sense of confidence.
