Seattle-based singer-songwriter Connor Desai makes acoustic indie pop carried by her stunning vocal work. Drawing influence from jazz music, she infuses her sound with delicate instrumental arrangements and nods to folk style narratives with her charming story-telling lyricism.
Originally hailing from Allentown, Pennsylvania, Connor Desai grew up with her four siblings surrounded by the steel factories where both her father and grandfather worked. Her mother was a member of the pioneering group The Sons of Thunder in the 60s and 70s, encouraging Connor to first pick up and learn the guitar and piano and begin her musical journey.
Since her debut EP in 2007, she’s gone from strength-to-strength as an artist, with “Will You Love” from the EP being licensed by Sony. Following up with three critically acclaimed albums, she’s built up an incredible catalogue of work, winning her countless fans along the way.
She found further worldwide success with her moving cover of the Grateful Dead’s track “Friend of the Devil” which was heard across the globe in the final scene of Netflix thriller The One last year. In a matter of weeks, the track was Shazamed over 50,000 times with listeners eager to find out the song’s singer.
Now she returns with a brand new single titled “Some Time Ago”, an emotive song written about a broken heart. With an elegant blend of acoustic guitar and piano, Connor Desai’s smooth vocals float beautifully above, carrying rich melodic leads that sooth and dazzle from start to finish on a song that demonstrates her songwriting craft and performance panache.
