London-based cable tv is the new synth-led project from artist James Yuill originally born as an ode to early 90s R&B. Having built a reputation for his pioneering blend of electronic and folk music, Yuill’s live shows are a dynamic concoction that would flutter seamlessly between hard-hitting techno to delicate acoustic ballads.
Previously he’s toured with his own headline shows as well as supporting artists such as Phoenix, Hot Chip, M83, Röyksopp, The Temper Trap and many others. Another of his recent projects saw him link with French producer Franck Russo under the Loframes alias with the pair remixing tracks from Erasure, M83, Miami Horror as well as their own original compositions.
With cable tv, he’s released a string of well-received singles over the last two years on an endeavour that Yuill takes full control of the creative process. He now brings us his sixth single under the cable tv moniker with the new track “rafters”.
The new track is a dark and brooding synth heavy track that demonstrates his fierce originality and the sheer brilliance of his creative vision. An atmospheric arrangement of electronic textures sit above a punching beat with Yuill’s spliced vocal lines weaving between lofty melodic lines and rhythmic pitched hits.
With reflective lyrics about being your own worst enemy and a dusky experimental electronic sound, cable tv delivers an immersive and energising track unlike anything else.
