UK singer-songwriter Alexander Joseph makes delicate indie folk music full of captivating melodies and uplifting arrangements paired with thoughtful lyricism that carries poignant messages in his songs. Alongside his musical pursuits, he’s a keen sportsman and coach, having worked with the Team GB wheelchair tennis players for several years.
From his sporting endeavours he draws inspiration for some of his music, providing the context for his motivational anthems such as “GB 365” and “You’re Going To Win”, both lifted from his debut EP, aptly titled Anything Is Possible. Making a lasting impression with fans and tastemakers alike, his music has been featured on the official playlist of Wimbledon as well as gaining extensive radio support across the UK.
Following his release earlier this year with the single “Firefly – Alternate Version”, he’s back with a new track, this time an acoustic re-imagining of one of his older songs. Written over fifteen years ago as one of his first compositions during his university days, “Summertime Compass (Acoustic Version)” delivers an optimistic message about the possibilities that lie ahead.
Keeping the laid back and playful vibe of the music that initially stemmed from the first version of the song from the previous band the artist was in, with the acoustic rendition, Alexander Joseph brings an early composition to life. A stripped back arrangement allows his smooth vocals and gracious lyric writing to shine through while offering the perfect instrumental pairing.
Full of memorable melodic leads, a gentle shuffling rhythm and peppered with intricate acoustic guitar work, on “Summertime Compass” Alexander Joseph lets his performance panache soar via a charming song he’s held onto for so many years.
