Hailing from New York, composer Mark Yodice makes studio based instrumental music under the moniker The June Rise. Offering a cinematic sound, unchained by any one particular style or genre, The June Rise’s music flows to wherever the artist’s imagination takes him and with that, he brings the listener along a sonic journey through his unique creative vision.
His previous work would often have an earthier and more muscular sound, stemming from his innovative acoustic guitar work, whereas with The June Rise, the composer crafts ethereal and wildly imaginative sonic landscapes that transport you to another world entirely.
The project was first introduced in 2013 with the debut full-length release titled Of Raging Waters and after a hiatus of a few years, The June Rise is back with a brand new EP called Birds.
The new EP features three original compositions that are each inspired by the beauty of the natural world, love and the magic of human connection through sound. From title track “Birds”, through “Eventually” to the EP closer “Summoned by the Tides”, the release is a breathtaking and stunning exploration of modern music composition.
Deep and immersive arrangements full of textures and dynamic evolving structures frame The June Rise’s inventive use of instrumentation and sound design across the release. Weaving emotive melodic lines and harmonies through delicate sonic tapestries, on Birds, the artist spins his meaningful work while leaving space for the listener’s own interpretation and reflection. You can listen to and download his music on his Bandcamp here.
