Alternative rock trio My Cousin’s Girlfriend’s House formed in 2020 in Philadelphia. Capturing the DIY sound from their roots in the local music scene, the band is comprised of Brian Quirk, Andrew Hight and Pete Long who all have experience in other outfits. Together they create a formidable sound of modern pop-punk and indie rock influenced by artists such as The Wonder Years, Modern Baseball, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others.
Making waves with their debut EP EMCEEGEEAYCH, the band then used the ensuing lockdowns to focus on their new material and develop their sound. Emerging from the pandemic with a fresh sonic aesthetic and armed with bags of new tracks, the first release to highlight their updated offering was February’s single “Therapeutic Hypocrite”.
With a new sophomore EP on the horizon, My Cousin’s Girlfriend’s House have dropped a new single in the build up to the upcoming release. The new single “Wasting Away” showcases the very best of what the band is about. A raucous and aggressive power punk outing, the track is full of punching percussion, melodic crunching guitar lines and fiercely catchy vocal leads.
Written about the monotony of a traditional desk job and the hurdles in the way of taking a non-traditional career path in corporate America, their angsty sound is delivered in a blistering modern rock song. Still maintaining the care-free DIY ethos from which they’ve originally come from, their latest single is wrapped in shiny production and serves to build more excitement around their forthcoming EP and for them as a rising rock act.
