Hailing from Brooklyn, Prints of Monaco is the folk pop project led by Oliver Monaco. A singer-songwriter at heart, the artist takes influence from the likes of Bear’s Den, Local Natives and Death Cab for Cutie to create a unique and highly emotive sound.
Spinning melancholic sadboy scenes, Prints of Monaco blends thoughtful lyricism carried by delicate vocal delivery and backed up by intricate arrangements when crafting their moving compositions. Having recently graced the stage at Rockwood Music Hall in New York to a sell-out crowd, they’ve also got an album set to drop later this year.
Ahead of their upcoming record, they share one of their recent releases with the beautifully written single titled “What You Left There”. Linking up with musician Neal Rosenthal who adds both pedal steel and trumpet as well as Cale Hawkins on bass and additional production, on “What You Left There”, Prints of Monaco weaves a stunningly melodic and poignant tapestry.
Once told by their producer; “Good take, can you do it again, but this time sadder?” they’ve taken that comment to heart and show that clearly on “What You Left There”. With close-mic recorded vocal work they capture an elegant sense of intimacy on a song tinged with country vibes that serves to demonstrate the songwriting and performance panache of Prints of Monaco.
