Born in South Carolina and now based in Los Angeles, Matthew Young makes music under the Blake Yung alias. The modern hip hop sensation crafts genre-beating tracks that draw on his versatility and edge to set him apart from other artists.
Not one to shy away from venturing wherever his creativity takes him, with his music he offers a raw, vulnerable and emphatic sound all filtered through his unique sonic lens. Since 2019 and his explosive debut release “Low Key”, he’s been taking the rap scene by storm in the USA and beyond.
Jumping straight up the ladder, he linked up with platinum producer Supah Mario, who engineered Drake’s “Blue Tint” and Young Thug’s “Thief In The Night”, on a the collaborative album Leader of the Lost Souls. Lifted off the LP comes the lead single from the record, “Loaded”. Already clocking in over half a million streams on Spotify since its release, the track is shaping up to be the artist’s biggest hit to date.
Featuring Blake Yung’s trademark razor-sharp flow wrapped up in atmospheric spacey production, “Loaded” delivers a dark emo hip hop cut full of punching beats and winding bass lines. Paired with the single is the music video which spins dramatic scenes to create a hazy and cinematic visual story for the song.
