Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, Sage Wesley is an artist who makes music under the Gemïny moniker. Blending elements of smooth jazz with gritty rock and his soulful vocals, he crafts an original sound of grooving alternative pop.
Originally the artist studied music composition under John Fitz at the University of South Carolina before going on a brief hiatus. Making his return to the music world, in 2020 he reignited his passion by picking up freelance work recording hooks and backgrounds for new artists while raising money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Eventually this led to Gemïny picking up gig work in the local Columbia live scene, performing back up vocals and keyboards for various acts. With his own music, he fuses the infectious energy of his live shows into his recorded work, weaving in raw emotion and giving greater gravity to his thoughtful lyricism which covers topics from relationship troubles and heartbreak to lost lovers.
With each of his compositions serving to capture a longing and nostalgic feel wrapped up in a rhythmic and instantly catchy sound, his music moves you in more way than one. One of his recent releases sees Gemïny link up with co-producer Joshua Florez on the single “Too Close”.
Written about the inevitable outcomes of a one-sided love, “Too Close” soundtracks the end of a toxic relationship that was destined to fail. Infused with a synthesiser arrangement and a driving danceable beat, the pair spin a cinematic modern pop cut brimming with touches of R&B, rock and pop. The well-received single has already put Gemïny firmly on the map, giving listeners a taste of his songwriting talent and vocal performance panache.
