Hailing from Boston, Color Channel is an indie pop outfit led by Jared Connell, formed in the autumn of 2010 when he and his childhood friend Mat Dellorusso decided to compose a song together while roller skating. Having come a long way since that day over a decade ago, the band now sees Jared serve as frontman and guitarist alongside Tony Tempesta on bass, Tim McBride on guitar, Kevin Smith on keys and drummer Mike Ryzer Morrissey.
Bringing their music to live audiences, they’ve opened for Ra Ra Riot at a sold out show at the Sinclair in Cambridge, Massachusetts as well as gracing the stages of festivals such as Camp Coldbrook and The Big Up. During the pandemic, their live shows were sorely missed by their eager fans, with Color Channel’s first show back selling out with a line of people outside waiting to get in.
Their second show back was a local porch music festival, proving so popular it resulted in the road being shut down because the crowd that gathered was so huge.
Following their 2017 EP Patch’d, they now bring us their first single of the year with the new track “Don’t Call It A Comeback”. Written in Willow Creek, California, the single was composed over a series of drunken evenings in a secluded barn on a mountain.
Since its first inception, “Don’t Call It A Comeback” went through various arrangements and iterations, being recorded and produced in three different studios across different states over the period of five years. Finally ready to share the single, Color Channel deliver a grooving and danceable indie pop hit that showcases the band’s talent as songwriters and performers.
