Hailing from the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, Lady Silver are an alternative rock outfit making waves around the world. Formed by dummer Nir Hakim, Gal Motiuk on keyboard and bass, guitarist Daniel Krichevsky and frontman Max Spon, Lady Silver offers a laid back rock sound characterised by their dry sense of humour that shines through in their satirical lyricism.
Lead singer and guitarist Max spent five years living and studying in Manchester in the UK where he gained a strong command of English, allowing him to write and perform in the language perfectly. The band first made their introduction in 2019 with their debut EP titled Ladies First, which they’ve since followed up with a string of well-received singles, racking up hundreds of thousands of streams of their music in the process.
Now they bring us one of their latest works with the new single “News of the World”. Offering an infectiously catchy sound, they once again deliver their modern rock style full of grooving rhythms and memorable vocal leads.
Paired with the single is a genius music video that cuts scenes of the band performing with deep-fake news anchor clips using computer generated shots of celebrities and world leaders reading the lyrics. The video perfectly captures the band’s sense of humour while also holding up a mirror to society in their typical witty fashion.
“News of the World” is lifted from their upcoming new album titled Circus Pop, with the band explaining the name of the record, “It’s a play on words and a joke. Like a new musical genre and also a fizzy drink you drink at a circus or a festival.”
Commenting on the forthcoming full-length release, they share, “We began recording our album at the peak of the pandemic, when you virtually weren’t allowed to leave your house. We created our own ‘band bubble’ and met in an underground studio. To avoid police on the way we managed to get hold of a couple of jackets branded with a delivery company logo. On the brightside – the lack of outside stimuli and distractions made us focus almost exclusively on the artistic process.”
