Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Laura Lang is a seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter who offers rich storytelling at the heart of her music. Drawing on her inner dialogue, misfortune and life experiences, she builds deep connections with her listeners via her personal and honest songwriting.
Starting to write music from an early age, despite her tender years she’s grown into an authentic artist with the talent to back her up. Characterised by her smooth and softly soaring vocal work, her music has an elegant style full of blissful melodic writing while taking influence from the likes of Lana Del Rey, Carseat Headrest and Fiona Apple.
Making her debut last year, she introduced her artistic vision with the single “Lithium” and showcased her delicate and original folk style for the first time. Following up her first effort she collaborated with producer Calvin Lauber to create her first EP titled All Downhill From There.
Now she brings us her latest work with the new single “Black Sedan”, the first track from her upcoming EP Bad Luck, set to drop this autumn. This time linking with production duo Colin Pastore and Jake Finch, “Black Sedan” was recorded in the Spring and serves to express the artist’s self-critical thoughts and disappointment with herself about the way things turned out.
While apprehension and a lack of self-belief are normal thoughts for artists to have, there is no doubt about the scope of Laura Lang’s talent and ability to craft and deliver stunningly beautiful indie folk music. With “Black Sedan” she continues that trend and builds further excitement for her forthcoming EP release.
