1st Base Runner is the latest project from Austin-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Tim Husmann. With the 1st Base Runner moniker, the award-winning Texas artist uses his vast array of analog synthesisers to create deep and immersive soundscapes drawing on his shoegaze and 80s dark wave influences.
Since making his debut last year with the single “Break Even”, 1st Base Runner followed it up with two EPs in 2021, Seven Years of Silence and Ellis. Both well-received works, his second EP charted on the NACC Radio Top 200 for over six weeks after its release.
Now he returns with another EP, titled Light Roars, featuring five new tracks that showcase the depth of his sonic vision. Building on the sound he’s developed across last year’s releases, with his new EP, 1st Base Runner injects live drums and a post punk tinge to create a captivating sound of original alternative rock music.
Driven by his impassioned vocal work carrying poignant and emotive lyricism, Light Roars spins a mesmeric and atmospheric journey. With the additions of live percussion and bigger guitar sounds, he brings a heavier edge to his trademark offering and showcases the thrilling evolution of his style.
Released via the artist’s own label and distribution imprint, Souvenir Sound, with Light Roars 1st Base Runner demonstrates his talents as a songwriter, performer and producer, creating an engaging and thoroughly enjoyable listening experience across the whole EP.
