Saun Santipreecha is a composer and producer from Thailand who’s now based in Los Angeles, California. As an artist, he focuses on the relationship between nature, humans and technology, poetically exploring the interconnectivity of the three and the dynamic links that sees them push, pull and manipulate each other.
Alongside his solo compositional work, he collaborates with creatives from various fields such as filmmakers, singer-songwriters, fashion designers and writers. With his own music, he crafts stunning and atmospheric soundscapes full of rich textures wrapped up by exquisite sound design.
Each piece of music he creates has its own unique aim to create space within which opposites, reflections and refractions can exist simultaneously. His ethereal sound offers a profound and provocative listening experience via mesmeric instrumentation that creates sparse arrangements to allow music to rise even in the moments devoid of sound.
His latest work builds on this premise, with his new album Dandelye. The title of the record is an English spelling of a Thai translation of an English word; dandelion, a flower that’s considered a week in the West while in Thailand, it’s a rare flower that only grows in the north of the country, the seeds of which spread and drift delicately by the wind.
On Dandelye, Saun Santipreecha lays down his most impressive work to date, featuring six hypnotising sonic works that transport you to the artist’s vivid musical visions, while still leaving enough space in the compositions for the listener’s own interpretation.
Commenting on the album, the artist shares, “This album is also very special for me as I released it on June 1st in conjunction with Pride Month. It is my most personal, and in my humble opinion, my most mature work to date which also reflects the space I’ve endeavoured to find for many years in which to belong artistically, personally and culturally.”
