Copenhagen-based songwriter Markus Hodal Drag makes music under the Silla Dream moniker, where he uses the project to realise his gloomy alternative indie sonic vision. Ever since starting the project in 2019, he’s handled all of the composition, arrangement and production himself and first made his introduction with his debut single “Shy Machine”.
Following up his first song the next year with “The Silent Treatment” and his debut EP of the same name, he built on his original sound of eerie indie rock characterised by dark guitar and synth textures and led by his delicately floating vocal work. Crafting blissful soundscapes, his thoughtful lyricism covers themes of toxic masculinity, vulnerability and romantic struggles.
Now gearing up to release his sophomore EP titled Catch My Drift on the 19th August, he shares the lead single from the upcoming EP with “I Wanna Go Dormant”. Perfectly capturing his timeless indie sound, Silla Dream’s new single crafts an ethereal sonic world that offers something unique while maintaining familiar and catchy melodies in a euphoric chorus.
Pairing delicately crunchy guitar work with high ranged vocal delivery, “I Wanna Go Dormant” spins an epic vibe with emotive writing. Serving to demonstrate Silla Dream’s artistic talents as a songwriter, performer and producer, the new single builds excitement for his forthcoming EP coming out next week.
