Hailing from the city of Windhoek in Namibia, hip hop artist Proklaim has been making waves around the world with his fiercely original rap music. Growing up in Zambia with Ugandan parents, he headed to Namibia to study at university, where he started to work on his own music during his final year.
With an affliction for deep meaningful lyricism, he lays down his own brand of conscious hip hop that takes aim at important societal issues and conflicts. Taking influence from the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, the Wutang Clan, Lauryn Hill, Tupac, Eminem and Big Pun, his own music features his razor sharp flow delivering his cutting edge writing.
The multi-talented artist has found success not just in his musical endeavours, but in other aspects of his life. He’s an accomplished businessman and an experienced athlete, developing a love for physical fitness and running during his teen years, which he’s since become more passionate about, building his powerful physique into the fabric of his image and brand.
Since 2018 he’s been dropping his studio recordings to critical acclaim, sharing his beat-driven hip hop sound led by his fiery vocal flow. Stepping up his sonic output this year especially, he’s released four new singles, the first of which is the track “IDK”.
Recorded at Penpushaz Ent. Studios by legendary engineer Lu Diaz and mastered by Chris Athens, “IDK” offers the very best of Proklaim’s reflective rap writing. With all the ingredients of a hard-hitting hip hop outing in place, Proklaim caps a worthy rap song with his thoughtful lyricism, making “IDK” not just a great listen, but an important one too.
