Hailing from London, Late Hala is an artist who blends atmospheric sonic tapestries, delicate percussion work and elegantly refined vocal work to craft an original take on the dream pop style. Using elements of guitar, piano and synths with additional orchestral instrumentation, Late Hala’s music offers an ethereal sound with poignant lyricism, wrapped up in accessible and catchy pop stylings.
Performing the majority of instruments himself, Late Hala is joined by drummer Mathias ‘Bang’ Madsen, adding intricately driving rhythm to the sound. Since 2019 and the release of the debut double-sided single Don’t Look Know, the artist has been sharing his creative vision with the world, offering timeless songwriting delivered via modern arrangements.
Following his sophomore single “Dark Clouds” from earlier this year, the artist now brings us his latest release with the brand new track titled “Never Had a Good Dream”. Produced by John Victor of UK indie rock outfit Gengahr, with “Never Had a Good Dream”, Late Hala lays down a stunning and charming indie pop sound full of bright melodic vocal layers carrying profound lyrical writing.
Fused with nostalgic touches and psychedelic tones, the single transports the listener through both uplifting and eerie soundscapes. Led by a piano track, supplemented by lofty guitar notes and vocals backed up by euphoric female voice backing, “Never Had a Good Dream” offers an immersive and captivating sound that shows a rising artist reveal a new side of his songwriting and arrangement panache.
