Hailing from London, DAAY is the modern indie rock band formed by Alex Barty-King and has undergone several different lineup iterations before landing on the six-piece outfit they are today. Taking inspiration from indie, jazz and touches of psychedelic music, they craft their own unique alternative sound of guitar-driven music.
Channeling the writing style of artists such as Julian Casablancas and MGMT, paired with the sonic aesthetic of acts like Submotion Orchestra, DAAY bring something completely new to the current UK music scene. Playing regular live shows, they’ve cemented their reputation as a must-see act and a mainstay of the London music circuit.
After making their introduction in 2020 with their debut single “Mama”, they’ve since shared a handful of well-received singles that showcase their original creative vision. Following their track “Golden Tree” from earlier this year, they’re back with their brand new single titled “Flight”.
Inspired by the Richard Bach book ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’, a fable that follows a seagull as it navigates through life and learns about flying, “Flight” reflects the metaphorical sentiments about the inevitable transformation from one thing to the next. Packed full of intentionally raw instrumental tones instilling a sense of feral imagery and wrapped up in spacey textures, “Flight” sees a band at the top of their game with a captivating sound and multi-layered lyricism.
While continuing to bring their music alive on stage to audiences across London, DAAY are also currently recording their debut EP titled Cosmic Gossip set to drop in the near future.
