Legend has it that the London-based artist Garvie spent so much time playing video games that he’s now trapped inside one. After spending years as an in-demand songwriter for other artists and becoming a staple performer on the London live music circuit, when the gigs abruptly vanished due to the pandemic he turned to his Gameboy while starting to learn how to produce music.
Giving him the spark he needed to pursue a career as a solo artist, now armed with the ability to produce his own music, he’s been able to bring about his own creative vision. With a sound that combines his grooving guitar work and big catchy choruses Garvie wraps his unique style up with 8-bit sonic textures to reflect his new video game-filtered world.
Making his introduction last year, he dropped his debut single “Bad Person” followed up by a string of tracks that have all secured extensive radio support in the UK and USA, leading to Frank Turner hailing the authenticity Garvie’s voice. Now working with the LA-based imprint Beformer, he brings us his recent single and accompanying music video for “Life’s Good”.
Once again showcasing his songwriting talent, vocal prowess and production panache, with “Life’s Good” Garvie lays down an infectiously catchy indie pop hit full of grooving rhythm and playful synth and guitar instrumentation. Paired with the single is a music video shot and directed by James Trosh featuring the Garvie character as drawn by artist Vicente Nitti traveling around the tourist sights of London while performing the song.
