Hailing from South East London, Dot Never are an exciting new outfit that blends elements of alternative rock with atmospheric electronica to create their own highly original sound. Making their introduction last year, they released their debut single with the track “Drill” paired with two remixes from Leafcutter John and ASTRYD.
Closing the year with two mini EPs and another single, they’ve breezed through 2022 with the same creative momentum, releasing “Landfill”, “Wrong Again” and now bringing us their brand new cut with “Escapism”.
Written about not feeling in control of your own life and the struggle of knowing who and where you want to be but not being able to achieve it, it captures the sensation of being divided into different versions of yourself that constantly battle with each other. Written, recorded and produced by the band at their London studio, a space they share with the likes of Dave Okumu, Eska and Paul White, they linked up with frequent collaborator Sam Beste, who’s previously worked with artists such as Amy Winehouse, The Vernon Spring, Kano and Matthew Herbert, to mix the track.
Full of haunting sonic textures, delicate ethereal vocals and a driving shuffling beat, with “Escapism”, Dot Never deliver a stunning piece of experimental indietronica music that’s both immersive and captivating.
