UK indie artist STRICKLAND has been on the scene for over a decade having started out as a guitarist in cover bands playing classic rock and pop songs to crowds all over the country. Witnessing the highs and lows of the industry and the decline of pop music charm, he shares, “I became a little bored of what was coming out of the speakers. Overproduced pop just all sounded the same to me.“
That disillusionment would serve as one of the catalysts for the artist to take matters into his own hands and start making his own original music. Holding Noel Gallagher’s quote “music is in the ear of the beholder” at the core of his artistic vision, as STRICKLAND he blends elements of new and old music to create his own style of indie rock music.
Taking influence from artists such as Oasis, The Beatles, Kasabian, The Rolling Stones, The Smiths, Paul Weller, New Order, Happy Mondays, Sam Fender, Coldplay, The Libertines and David Bowie, STRICKLAND delivers a sound driven by timeless melodic indie writing full of relatable lyricism and bright guitar-based arrangements. Bringing us the first take of his music, he shares his brand new debut album titled Superficial Chaos.
Featuring eleven tracks, with his first opus STRICKLAND lays down a triumphant modern indie rock body of work that injects the sorely missed charm back into the style. Bending from the introspective and moving to the energising and swaggering, on Superficial Chaos the artist offers a complete artistic journey from a talented musician.
With two guest features from the likes of Christian Erik on “High Hopes” and Ian Tysall on album closer “Burning Me”, across his debut record, STRICKLAND shares a stunning sound driven by his delightful songwriting and capped by his compelling vocal work. Now gearing up for live shows in 2023 to bring the album to audiences from the stage, Superficial Chaos is also released to support a good cause with 20% of the royalties going to Macmillan Cancer Support and the Teenage Cancer Trust to help the important work they do.
