Originally from Nigeria and now based in London, Mr Enah has been making waves in the Afrobeat scene in the UK and beyond. Taking inspiration from real life people and their lived experiences, he threads each release with raw emotion, resulting in a rare sense of authenticity which has seen his music resonate so powerfully with his fans.
Offering relatable writing, wrapped up in his pop-focused style with bags of commercial appeal, he uses his music to express feelings that are hard to put into words. Taking influence from artists such as Burna Boy, Davido and Mr Eazi, Mr Enah offers a smooth and soulful beat-driven style that’s both accessible for any listener, but also hosts deep meaning via purposeful and reflective lysicism.
“I was never one to speak about my feelings, but writing lyrics was my way of expressing myself. It evolved into Afrobeats/Afroswing after being shipped to Nigeria on multiple occasions which gave me the opportunity to learn about my roots and where I come from,” he shares.
Making his introduction in 2018, he unveiled the Mr Enah sound with his debut single “Party” which he followed up the next year with his debut eponymous EP. Dropping a string of well-received singles, and his sophomore EP titled 4 You this summer, he now beings us his latest release with the brand new single “Pull Up”.
Once again linking up with fellow Afrobeat artist CallieMajik, together they combine to deliver a cutting edge Afro anthem. Picking out touches of R&B and pop, washed in subtle LoFi vibes, on “Pull Up” Mr Enah spins a grooving and shimmering sound.
Full of delicate sonic textures over a gentle snapping beat, piquant keyboard and synths layered up, peppered with colourful tenor saxophone leads, “Pull Up” is the latest work from a pioneering artist who consistently operates at the top of his game.
Commenting on the writing process of the single, Mr Enah shares, “I created the vibe and sent it over to Callie, and, within a few days he hit me back with his verse and it was pure fire! But I still felt like there was something missing and CallieMajik knew exactly what to do and got the amazing Devon on the backing vocals which just glued the song together and made it what it is today.”
