Hailing from Devon in the UK, Daniel Schamroth is a singer-songwriter with a talent for crafting soulful indie music in a stripped-back style. Channeling influences from artists like Noel Gallagher, Ryan Adams and Neil Young, Schamroth embraces these inspirations while injecting his unique, emotionally charged sound. Aside from his solo artistic work, he’s also the lead singer of outfit called The Loft Club.
Sharing his sound as a solo artist for the first time in 2019, he released his debut single “Way Into The Sun,” which was quickly followed by a remix by Florian Paetzold as well as a support slot for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Powderham Castle. The list of collaborators and influences in Schamroth’s musical journey is impressive, ranging from Grammy Award-winning artists like Lisa Loeb to sharing stages with The Charlatans, Ben Ottewell and more.
In 2022, he returned with new studio music, dropping his debut EP titled “Friends & Brothers,” which was recorded with James Bragg and Danny Hembrow at Propagation House. Followed up by a string of singles since then, he now brings us his latest release with his brand new sophomore EP “Major Companion,” released via the UK-based imprint So, Let’s Talk Ltd. So, Let’s Talk Ltd is a streaming-first label that boasts 500 million plays on TikTok, and a catalogue of releases by Roachford, Lisa Loeb, and Hana Giraldo, the daughter of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.
Linking up with the renowned two time Grammy winning producer Guy Massey who’s credits include The Beatles, Oasis, Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran, with his new EP, Daniel Schamroth presents a stunning six-track acoustic release. With strings arranged by Manchester-based composer Joe Duddell and recorded with a live orchestra and mastered by U2 and Noel Gallagher engineer Pete Maher, Daniel Schamroth’s timeless songwriting is brought to life in dazzling fashion by a team of extraordinary talent to match that of the artist.
Opened by the warm strums of acoustic guitar on “Dying To Feel Alive,” Daniel Schamroth’s rich voice enters with beautiful harmonies to craft a moving and stripped-back sound. The stretch of strings brings in the lively rhythm of staccato notes as the tension builds before the song breaks back into the silky and heartwarming sound where the graceful arrangement of strings and guitar casts an inviting sound above which Daniel’s compelling vocals thread memorable melodies and meaningful lyricism above.
“Lonely Old Heart” follows with a more uptempo feel capped by delicate lead guitar tones as Daniel spins an indie folk sound. Injecting a folk rock twist with rising vocal intensity and the atmospheric punch of percussive shots, the song drifts through contrasting moods to deliver another slice of the artist’s enduring and enchanting style.
Other highlights on the release include lead single “Rat Race” which follows with an airy atmosphere of plucked guitar notes hovering in a hazy sea of reverb as Daniel’s voice glides in to cut through the soundscape. With another masterclass in crafting pop-focused music that still captures an authentic sound, “Rat Race” is an elegant outing of downtempo acoustic pop delivered via an utterly magical performance.
The playful guitar flickers of “If I Got You” sets an upbeat aesthetic as Daniel weaves smooth vocal flows, joined by lush string tones to craft a journey through an alluring and intimate sonic world. Hushed backing vocals in the finale close this delightful outing brought to life by Daniel’s superb vocal performance and exquisite arrangement.
The EP closes with previously released single “Cold Wind Blowing” where bright guitar notes and strums are met with Daniel’s expressive vocals. Offering one final moment of Daniel with just his guitar, it’s the perfect conclusion to his sensational new EP.
