The Ram is a musician whose unique life story is stitched into the fabric of his sonic output. Born in Pittsburgh and raised on a farm near Philadelphia, he’s experienced the fast faced life of New York City and the laid-back vibes of the West Coast.
This musical nomad infuses his varied life experiences into his songwriting, crafting music that shines with a wanderlust-driven life. The Ram is a true storyteller, threading tales of his perpetual motion-filled life through his music. His sound is built on a pulsating heartbeat, an infectious groove and a compelling voice.
Over the last three years, since the release of his 2020 record To Love a Wild Fire, he’s shared various releases that have further formed his unique musical identity. Last year, he continued to build his discography with two singles, a full-length record titled Songs of Wanderlust, and an EP of Grateful Dead covers.
This year, The Ram returns with new music, sharing his new EP, Everything, which features three versions of his new song of the same name. This EP serves up a downtempo slice of his smoky blues rock sound, showcasing his rich voice gliding over a colourful arrangement of intricate guitars, organ tones and the laid-back shuffle of drums.
Started off with an extended version of the song, a psychedelic-tinged aesthetic opens the song as warm key tones flutter alongside the twang of guitar notes, riding the pulse of bass and taps of drums. His deep voice glides in to thread smooth melodies carrying storytelling lyricism, resulting in an alluring and truly timeless sound of memorable writing and gently swaying rhythm.
Followed by the radio cut, The Ram serves up a superb jam brimming with soulful writing, grooving drum rhythms and stellar musicianship. Carried by his enthralling vocal performance, it’s the perfect display of his enduring sound. Paired with an instrumental version to close the EP, the arrangement and talent of his band shines in its own right, allowing the incredible lead guitar flourishes and hazy tones of the organ to provide their own musical experience.
