LONOSS is a creative outlet for Swedish artist Fredrik Olsson’s instrumental music, bringing us the new piece ‘Sand Waves’. Influenced by the world of hip hop, jazz and neo-soul he creates chill beats where simple melodies, soulful harmony and interesting rhythmic elements intertwine.
His latest release offers a smooth lo-fi ride through his sonic vision. Filled with delicate instrumentation of piano, synths and plucky staccato guitars, the sound pairs perfectly with intriguing percussive patterns.
Commenting on the new track, the artist offers, “This track might be pushing the boundaries of lo-fi a little bit, and hopefully that’s a good thing. The main elements of the track came about during a 6 hour train ride in Sweden. The sound of the shakers made me think of a beach with waves crashing in, so that’s where the song title comes from. This song really relaxes me, and perhaps it can do the same for someone else out there.”
He began his musical journey in 3rd grade when he started to learn the trumpet. This lead to him being a member of multiple orchestras for several years. Soon after picking up the trumpet he began playing guitar which got him into songwriting. In 8th grade he began playing the drums, which became one of his main instruments. Around this time he also started to sing and learn the piano to complete his multi-instrumental abilities.
