eeph links with Jani on new track

eeph is a skilled musician and sound designer based out of Dortmund. The heavily organic nature of his compositions connect the listener to the world around them. In 2017, eeph composed the sound for the short bio-pic “NINE TILL NOW”, which was chosen as a Vimeo Staff Pick.

Now, the Producer links with Leipzig-based vocalist Jani on a new project. The pair first connected online, sometime before the pandemic, before face masks and travel bans became an everyday thing. After an extensive exchange of thoughts and views on life, work, mental health, and creativity, the first drafts for an EP came into being. 

Their three track piece Focus and Distraction was created through numerous phone and video calls, data transfers, and a clever in-between-lockdowns-meet-up in Dortmund, in September 2020. 

Focus and Distraction tells about loss, the desire to find healing amidst chaos, and the process of letting go of the past. It explores a transitional phase in which self-reflection and observation become necessary in order to move on. 

Eeph translates words into music, incorporating Jani’s voice and instrumental recordings to create a musical space that offers both familiarity and novelty. 

Lifted from the upcoming EP comes the track “Resolve”, an expansive sonic journey full of colourful instrumental textures and a delicate vocal delivery from Jani. Blending elements of trip-hop, downtempo, and indietronica, the pair craft a stunning collaboration that’s both challenging and comforting.
