Based in Perth, composer and producer Paul Frazer Clarke has spent 36 years moving through the music industry with a decorated career defined by versatility, collaboration and a knack for storytelling. His work has crossed genres and regions, taking in soul, jazz, funk, yacht rock, pop rock and cinematic soundscapes, while his production has also found a home in the world of sync. From co-writing and producing the first drum and bass album in history back in 1994 to working with musicians from around the world, Paul has built a catalogue that reflects a career spent following a truly unique creative compass.
His experience reaches across some of the industry’s most recognisable names and platforms; Paul has been signed to Epic Records and Edel Records and has written for Warner Chappell and MCA Music. Through a 25-year relationship with Sonoton Music, Europe’s largest independent library music company, his music has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, National Geographic, the BBC and Dragon’s Den. More than 200 of his tracks are registered through Sonoton, while recent signings to Sentric/Believe and regular airplay on Amazing Radio UK and US continue to add new chapters to an already extensive career.
Collaboration has been central to that journey, with Paul’s credits and creative partnerships including Grammy Award-winning pedal steel guitarist Lucky Oceans, jazz fusion keyboard legend Jeff Lorber, Naim Cortazzi of Fun Lovin’ Criminals and vocalists Sharin Attamimi and Reuben De Melo, winner of The Voice Australia 2024. That sense of artistic freedom carried through to his 2024 album Backstories From A Soundtrack To Life, a project that flowed through an array of different styles.

Now Paul is continuing his sonic adventure with Five Coordinates, a new EP that sees each track pairing him with a different international collaborator. The project’s latest chapter comes in the form of “Perfect Stranger,” his third release from the EP, this time created with Los Angeles-based artist Theia who brings an intimate vocal presence to the track. Her previous work includes placements on The CW network shows Hart of Dixie and Roswell, New Mexico, commercial campaigns for UNIQLO and multiple songs featured on SiriusXM.
On “Perfect Stranger,” her voice becomes the emotional centre of a production that deliberately keeps its movements understated. Commenting on the collaboration, Paul shares, “Theia was great to work with on this project — she grabbed the flavour of the track straight away and did an awesome job with the vocal.”
Opened by the twinkle of bright piano notes and delicate acoustic guitar tones, the laid back taps of percussion adds a gentle groove as Theia’s alluring voice floats above the indie pop arrangement. Flowing with elegant melodies carrying heartfelt lyricism, the song glides with a breezy aesthetic stitched with memorable melodic writing and mesmeric rhythmic energy. Dreamy vocal layers and intricate instrumentation combine to craft an utterly charming listening experience that’s tender, original and truly impossible not to love.
Pairing Paul Frazer Clarke’s stellar songwriting and Theia’s stunning vocal performance, “Perfect Strangers” presents a magical musical moment that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face. After 36 years in an industry that has taken him from drum and bass to major-label songwriting, international collaborations and television placements, Paul Frazer Clarke’s latest offering sees him continuing to go from strength to strength with each move.
