Chicago-born Polish-American artist Obco is a new artist building a musical sphere in the spaces between cultures, memories and personal experience. His work combines rap and melody with reflective storytelling, drawing on the everyday grind, quiet sacrifice and ambition that comes with wanting to build something bigger. By not separating his two cultural identities, Obco brings them together through music, creating a sound that moves between emotions and languages, brought to life by his highly original artistic expression.
Inspired by his Polish origins, Obco’s music explores identity, growth and nostalgia through a highly personal lens. His Polish-American background gives his songwriting a natural sense of adaptability, allowing him to move between English and Polish while creating music that can speak to both sides of his experience. Ultimately, the project is about building a bridge between the USA and Poland, while also connecting with a growing audience of listeners around the world.
That journey began with his debut single “Legenda,” which landed in February and was quickly followed by singles two and three. With a growing catalogue of Polish and bilingual releases ahead, Obco is shaping a body of work that revolves around the idea that music can connect people across distance, language and experience; his mission is to document the process of becoming, with listeners invited to become part of that story along the way.

Now, his fourth release titled “Chowanego” continues that idea through a song centred on memory, friendship and change. Translating to “Hide and Seek,” the title suggests something connected to childhood and recollection, but the track actually looks beyond nostalgia to consider how people and relationships develop. “Chowanego” serves up a blend of nostalgic melodies with modern Polish rap, hip hop energy and alternative R&B vibes, creating a space where past and present collide in spectacular fahsion.
Heartfelt Polish and English lyrics move through melodic production and expressive vocals, giving the track an emotional quality that contrasts moments of punching, trap style percussion. The song reflects on friendships that once occupied an important place in life, acknowledging that people can grow apart while still holding onto the significance of what they shared. It’s a recognition that distance doesn’t necessarily erase connection and that the memories created along the way can continue to shape who we become. Set up by the delicate flutter of airy vocalisations and intricate instrumental flickers, the snap of crisp beats ushers in smooth vocal leads which glide above before slipping into slick rapped delivery in English.
Flowing between elegant melodic stretches and driving rap energy, “Chowanego” delivers an incredible showcase of Obco’s genre-blending style and performance flair. Wrapped up in impactful production, the arrangement casts an immersive listening experience while catchy hooks dance above the infectious groove, resulting in an epic jam that’s original, memorable and thematically meaningful all at once. As Obco continues to go from strength to strength as an exciting new artist on the rise, we can’t wait to see what else he’s got in store on what’s sure to be his breakout year.
