Coming out of Romania, LeVioN is an exciting new project that stands at the crossroads between heavy music and spiritual awakening. Created by Ovidiu Joița and Liviu Căldărescu, the collaboration stretches back to 1996, developing over time into something that reaches beyond the typical stylings of rock and metal. The pair describe their sound as Spiritual Cosmic Metal, a self-defined fusion where the physical impact of powerful riffs meets a deeper exploration of consciousness, transformation and light.
Even the name LeVioN carries that intention; drawing together Lev for Heart, Ion for Pure Energy and Levitas for Ascension, it represents the idea of the heart freeing itself from shadows before reconnecting with the divine spark. It’s an intriguing philosophy that provides the creative fuel of the project, informing not only its music but the wider sphere the two musicians have created around it. Both veterans of the Romanian rock and metal scene, Ovidiu and Liviu have played alongside acts like Dark Tranquillity, Evergrey, Tristania and Iris.
Within LeVioN, Liviu takes on bass while Ovidiu handles lead guitar and harmonies, with the pair responsible for the project’s musical and visual world. LeVioN’s sound is based in hard rock and heavy metal but the music climbs into speed and occasionally allows thrash to break through. By not attempting to recreate an earlier era, the project presents itself as modern rock, constructed and produced in the present.
This year they’ve made an emphatic artistic entrance, dropping a string of impressive singles in the build up to their debut album Embrace the Light. Across twelve tracks, the record forms a story arc and a map of spiritual transformation, revolving around courage, forgiveness and pure joy. Since then, they’ve followed up with albums two and three while winning over listeners around the world with their powerful musical output.

Their third full-length, Spark of God, provides the setting for “We Are One,” a track centred on an idea that’s at once expansive and compelling, framing the notion that humanity is part of the same energy but has forgotten it. Borders, labels and divisions have been constructed between people, creating countless reasons for separation where there was once a single source. Ultimately, “We Are One” is an act of remembering and its message imagines existence beginning as One energy, One breath and One creation before becoming billions of individual sparks, each carrying a fragment of the same divine fire.
The song eschews the idea of an “other” in favour of presenting humanity as one creation appearing through billions of different faces. Wrapped up in a gripping alternative rock soundscape, the track opens with elegant piano plinks before the punch of drums and crunch of guitars inject a rousing, metal-inflected energy. Soaring lead guitar flourishes dance atop the charing arrangement before giving way to gentle vocals which spin alluring melodies carrying poignant lyrics.
Surging into anthemic choruses where powerful drums and gritty guitars collide, impassioned vocals ring out above to craft a truly captivating listening experience that’s memorable and meaningful in equal measure. Peppered with stunning lead guitar work and flowing through both moments of exhilarating riff-driven energy and intimate, piano-led aesthetic, “We Are One” serves up a spectacular showcase of LeVioN’s thrilling musical output.
Commenting on the release, they share, “We built walls between us. We invented borders, labels, separations. We forgot that the same God who shaped the mountains also shaped every heartbeat in every chest on this planet. This song is the remembering. We Are One is not a metaphor. There is no other. There is only One creation wearing seven billion faces.”
