Fruity Water is an exciting, new psych indie pop duo from the always influential city of Brighton, England. It comprises of Smalan Odgers and Adam Bell and features blistering fizzy drum machines and swirling moogs from Smalan Odgers, complemented by darker, delayed powered, and at times downright post-rock influenced guitar playing from Adam Bell.
The sound is topped off by bittersweet lyrics and poppy harmonies from both, with repeating catchy mantras in their songs that will be stuck in your head and whirl around incessantly, especially after repeated listens.
Now the pair bring us their new remix of “Tidal Wave” by fellow Brighton artist duo Seadog, the first single from their forthcoming second album, Internal Noise. Recorded at Bella Union Studios, Brighton and produced by Jack Wolter of Penelope Isles, the song blends dream-pop synths and drum machines with layered guitars and Jack’s pounding drums.
Fruity Water’s remix of the track draws influence from 00’s indie disco, fast past percussion and synths mixed with cut up vocals. Paired with a visual offering to reflect the shifting rhythmic energy and psychedelic instrumental work.
