Hip-Hop veteran and creative director Jason Nitti has just released his latest self-titled solo project, Heavily, born from the restlessness of sheltering in place during uncertain times. It’s a stylistic departure from his earlier duo-led Black Wave releases as Kool Head, Heavily fuses elements of trap beats over a melancholic landscape of subtle vocal melodies and ambient tones.
Lifted from his debut self-titled album Heavily, comes the stunning dark ambient piece “Eyeball”, the first track that encapsulated the unwitting sound and atmosphere of Heavily.
Stemming from the effects of quarantine and incorporating hip-hop elements over a melancholic landscape, Heavily delivers an atmospheric electronic world that seemingly picks up where Holy Other left off. The USA-based producer also collaborated with digital artist, Ryan Whitby, who scripted behaviours rather than keyframes where the pieces naturally respond to the music of Heavily in an almost sentient manner.
