Arii Lopez shares “undecided” music video

Cuban-Jamaican singer-songwriter Arii Lopez has been creating a musical output in the overlap between cultures, sounds and experiences. Drawing from R&B, soul, alternative, pop, Latin influences and Caribbean rhythms, her music reflects the different influences that have shaped her, creating a sound that feels at once modern and profoundly personal. Inspired by artists including Madonna, Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Lady Saw, El General and Spice, Arii brings together contrasting musical worlds while keeping emotion and self-expression at the centre of her songwriting.

Her knack for moving between styles has been present since Arii first shared her sonic vision back in 2017 with her debut single, “Mop It Up.” She followed it with “Culture” in 2020 before returning two years later with “Run Up” and across those releases, Arii has continued to map out a musical identity based in both her cultural background and her ability to explore the emotional complexities of modern life.

Her journey has also seen her presence grow across the UK and Caribbean music landscape; previously featured by Notion in collaboration with Clarks Originals and selected to perform at The Great Escape, Arii has continued building momentum around her highly unique musical vision. Her songwriting explores themes of love, identity, vulnerability and the realities of facing adulthood, with soulful vocals providing the emotional thread connecting each part of her work.

Now, Arii Lopez opens an exciting new chapter with “undecided,” an intimate indie R&B track that turns its attention towards the uncertainty and growing pains of your twenties. The song embraces the mistakes, self-reflection and unresolved questions that come with still figuring yourself out, offering a moving musical moment that’s dreamy, delicate and highly affecting all at once. Flowing with stripped-back production and soft acoustic guitar-focused arrangement, “undecided” gives Arii’s emotive vocals plenty of space to carry the emotional impact of the song.

Gliding between English and Spanish, Arii explores determination and self-discovery while capturing the uncomfortable reality of being caught somewhere between who you were and who you are becoming. Opened by airy guitar notes and gentle sonic atmosphere, Arii’s tender vocals enter to stitch elegant melodic threads carrying poignant lyricism into the soothing musical fabric. Casting an alluring soundscape brimming with enticing vocal performance and absorbing aesthetic, “undecided” sees Arii Lopez make a spectacular return with a stunning new single.

Putting her songwriting talent and performance panache on full display, “undecided” presents a superb showcase of Arii’s memorable and meaningful musical offering. Commenting on the single, she shares, “undecided is about those moments when your heart wants one thing and your mind tells you another. It’s a feeling so many people experience and I wanted to tell that story in a way that feels real.”

Paired with the single, the music video directed by Trevor Pretty brings the song alive on screen in cinematic fashion, following Arii through various scenes shot in black and white. “undecided” also offers a window into what comes next as Arii looks towards her debut EP, Girl Interrupted, arriving next year. The upcoming project is set to be her most ambitious and personal body of work thus far as Arii continues to turn shine on her enduring musical story.
