Based in Vienna, electronic artist and producer Valerian Steel has built a creative world around physical sound, uncompromising experimentation and a resistance to the increasingly artificial nature of modern production. Through Manufracture Music, his solo project and the driving force behind A.C.I. (Analog Core Industrial), he brings together the abrasive energy of industrial electronics with an ongoing audiovisual protest against digital perfection. Organic, human-made music collides with cold, AI-generated imagery, creating a project that challenges the relationship between technology and genuine artistic expression.
Valerian’s musical origins are based in a classical background, having developed his talents through piano and singing in a choir before turning towards electronic production. That early musical education continues to inform his approach to melody, dynamics, arrangement and emotional tension, even as his sound moves into darker and more confrontational areas. Across industrial intensity, cinematic atmosphere and high-energy, glitch-driven electronics, he’s developed unique musical worlds connected to physical sound and a clearly defined sonic identity.
With Manufracture Music, that philosophy takes its most uncompromising form; built entirely around analogue hardware and vintage equipment, the project rejects VSTs and digital shortcuts in favour of the limitations of real machines. Heavy synths and vintage drum machines provide the setting for a sound that strips away the shimmer of modern production, placing distorted pulses, mechanical rhythms and pure electronic energy at the forefront. Hard industrial, EBM, dark electronic music and post punk influences collife in soundscapes designed for underground dancefloors, balancing physical impact with haunting atmospheres and sequences.
Bringing together the darkwave nostalgia of the 80s with dystopian futurism, the project embraces the imperfections and textures of analogue equipment while turning artificial visual technology into part of the project’s conceptual output. Since unveiling the project last year with debut album Fractured Empires, Valerian Steel has continued to expand his catalogue through a series of singles. Manufracture Music has also begun building an international underground following, earning airplay on independent tastemaker stations including Bloodlit Radio, Sine FM, Mente Mente and Frecuencia Millennial while his wider creative universe extends beyond the main project through the affiliated side projects Fourtyfication*5 and Music of Synergia, offering further space to explore different sonic spheres.

Now, Manufracture Music returns with “System Apathy,” a dark, hardware-driven industrial and EBM single that distils the central principles of his A.C.I. philosophy. Constructed using analogue synths, drum machines and hands-on sound design, the track relies on the distorted electronic pulses and mechanical rhythms of physical equipment. Every element arises from the interaction between the artist and his machines, with voltage, texture and the constraints of the hardware shaping the finished sound. There are no software shortcuts to smooth away the rough edges; the production channels the character of the equipment itself to deliver a truly engrossing musical experience.
Thematically, “System Apathy” explores technological collapse and human indifference, imagining a society in which systems continue to function even as their meaning disappears. Its central tension reflects the wider concerns running through Manufracture Music, that technology can become increasingly sophisticated while the human purpose behind it grows harder to recognise. The track turns that idea into an electronic transmission, where mechanical repetition becomes an expression of a world continuing to operate without a clear sense of direction.
Set up by the buzz of ominous textures, bubbling vocal samples and sweeping electronic textures, the track progresses with the punch of thumping kick and pulse of steady synth shots, forming a spacey sonic voyage brimming with intricate rhythms and wrapped in enveloping sound design. Rattling drums, hazy vocal elements and stacks of synth layers, “System Apathy” serves up a thoroughly gripping slice of darkwave-tinged electronic music that’s original, memorable and thoroughly engaging from start to finish.
Putting his creativity and intriguing conceptual vision on full display, it’s an epic showcase of the Manufracture Music project that’s sure to impress new and existing listeners alike. With Manufracture Music, Valerian Steel is building a creative space where analogue crunch and technological vibes can coalesce, using the physicality of hardware-driven electronics to challenge an increasingly artificial culture. “System Apathy” takes that vision forward, offering a forceful reminder that imperfection can be an artistic statement in its own right.
