Pioneering UK electronic artistĀ George FitzGeraldĀ has spent years inspiring awe in music fans and producers alike. Having witnessed the birth of the dubstep scene during the mid-2000s, whilst working at London shop Black Market Records and being a part of the city’s vibrant club scene, he didn’t begin releasing music of his own until he moved to Berlin in 2010, whenĀ Scuba signedĀ himĀ to his influential label Hotflush Recordings.Ā
FitzGeraldĀ pursued music as a full-time career, releasing moody, melancholic R&B-influenced club tracks, starting with “The Let Down” on Hotflush in 2010, followed by “Don’t You” and “Fernweh” on his own ManMakeMusic in early 2011. By the end of 2012,Ā heĀ had additionally released EPs on Aus Music and Hypercolour.
Now the the producer returns with his first official taste of solo music in three years, a brand new single titledĀ “Ultraviolet”. An effervescent cut of sprawling electronica, the track applies FitzGeraldās visionary scope to a vast soundscape.
Offsetting those expansive textures with high tempo percussion and hyperactive synth tones, “Ultraviolet” instils a true sense of wonder from the outset – born from a moment of intergalactic inspiration within his own creative solitude. Building towards a stunning apex while integrating flourishes of distortion and an uplifting bass tone, the track is a masterstroke of modern sound design, with each part of the arrangement feeling captivating and vital in its own way.
Commenting on the new release, he offers, āUltraviolet came together over several long nights alone in the studio, dreaming about rushing to the furthest place I could imagine at the fastest speed possible. Firing through space at 1000s of miles an hour without moving.ā
As a blissful reminder of the boundless capabilities of one of the UKās most talented electronic creatives, “Ultraviolet” is a work of pure imagination in sonic form. After living in a world with closed borders and minimal hope for the last 18 months, with his latest offering the artist opens the door to true fantasy within music.
