Filipino-American singer-songwriter Jaia Lyne originally started out working as a model, working for fashion brands such as Victoria’s Secret PINK and JanSport before turning her talents to music. Also an actress, her deep comprehension in entertainment and life has given her music a three-dimensional sound. Complimented by gracefully, illuminated harmonies, Jaia’s voice will take you on a journey. Always true to her own unique vision, her mantra “Don’t be afraid to use your own voice.” rings true through her music.
Following on from her debut single “Time” she brings us her new track “Mad At Myself”, a graceful and rhythmic pop song with nods to the sounds of Dua Lipa. Produced by Jesse Aaron, who Jaia met in her freshman year at San Diego State University, the new single is a hook-driven, airy work full of charm.
The singer’s influences of Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey shine through in her soulful and melodic vocal work on this track that was inspired by the energy of The 1975‘s “She Way Out” and the grimy, bass sounds of Zanski‘s “Fool”.
Commenting on the track, she offers, “This song is about the consequences of fantasising your future with someone who has the wrong intentions.”
Adding, “The thing I remember the most was walking into the session telling Jesse my reference songs, and walking out realising that we achieved that sound. During that session, each time we added a track the more open to discovery we became. It was so much fun.”
