Hard rock musician hailing from New Orleans, Kevin The Persian creates music akin to the likes of legendary artists Alice in Chains and Ozzy Osbourne blended with his thrash and southern rock influences. Making music for masochists, he explores the darker sides of the human psyche from mental illness to alienation framed by his profound lyrics.
In a tiny room in an old industrial building, he recorded his debut album over several months last year in a set up shut off from the outside world. No internet and no cell phone, he spent sessions of many hours at a time with no distractions to create the album.
Now with his introductory collection of work released, he brings us Southern Dissonance in all its gritty glory. “The goal was to go deep on each song with zero distractions for several hours at a time. Since most of the music I grew up loving was composed in a pre-internet world, I wanted to replicate that creative process as much as possible for Southern Dissonance to explore unorthodox musical and lyrical directions,” he shares.
Juxtaposing the catchy energy of his sonic aesthetic with a poignant context, he confronts difficult themes through his music from the prospect of death on “Coping Mechanisms” to the inescapable feeling of isolation even in one’s own home on title track “Southern Dissonance”.
Over the nine track album, he delivers a punchy rock sound full of grooving riffs, hook-driven writing and swaggering vocals to demonstrate his assured abilities as a writer, musician, producer and all-round rock talent.
