Innovative electronic pop artist hailing from Toronto, Canada, SORAN creates forward-thinking modern pop music. Blending elements of alternative R&B, lo-fi sounds, spacey electronic instrumentation and his smooth soulful vocal delivery, he offers a heavily rhythmic styles that’s entirely his own.
Racking up millions of plays on Spotify and winning new fans the world over, it’s easy to see why he’s been snapped up by Universal Canada, the country’s leading music company. Following on from his cosmic hit “Space Boy” and the emotive bop “Tired” he’s recently released the new single “Way Up” which once again shows an artist on the rise, going from strength to strength with each new drop.
With his new track, he lays down an anthem of optimism, pouring in his rich vocals which carry messages of hope making a soundtrack for perseverance. Drawing on his own struggles for inspiration, with “Way Up”, SORAN shares his confessional writing in a sound that drips in authenticity and honesty as well as originality.
Grooving and infectiously catchy, on his latest offering SORAN cements himself as one of Canada’s must-watch artists. About the track, he shares, “‘Way Up’ is written by a future me talking to a present me about how I got over the pain of losing a loved one,” referring to his mother who sadly passed away, an experience that often influences his writing, “It’s ironic, because I’m doing all of the things that she wanted me to do now, but she’s gone. It sounds like me, yet so much of it is my mom. I find a way to celebrate her in every song.”
