Los Angeles-based artist Sean David Christensen takes influence from the classic American singer-songwriters of the 70s as well as drawing inspiration from the music of show tunes. Crafting delicate stories with fragile characters, he leans into the pop sensibilities of artists he grew up listening to with tender arrangements and thoughtful lyrical writing.
With a folksy Americana style, he spins intricate songs that are beautiful in form and sound. His softly delivered vocals carry his storytelling art to offer elegant and emotive music that charms and captivates. With his latest work, he brings us his new single titled “I Miss The Old You”, a blissful country song full of shuffling rhythm, gentle vocal work and coloured by touches of slide guitar.
Co-written and produced by John C. Schroeder and Ross Garren, the song initially took form in the shape of a folk/country remix of “Old You” by Maggie Dave, before it collected enough personal reflections to transform into an original composition in its own right. Paired with the music comes a visual offering to capture the hazy nostalgia of the music.
Commenting on the song, he shares, “This is a very personal song to me, relating to the sense of loss you feel after a relationship has withered and you can no trace when things began to drift away from what you remembered. Or maybe that person was never who you thought they were, and you were the one who changed.”
